Toxin produced by tetanus wand causes contraction of muscle fibers. This condition is accompanied by a painful deformity and rigidity of the body.
Feature Methocarbamol
Methocarbamol – muscle relaxant. Its effect is to block pain nerve impulses sent to the brain.
Pharmacological action Methocarbamol:
mechanism of action is completely unclear. The drug has no direct effect on skeletal muscle. Possibly, this effect is associated with sedative properties.
Indications Methocarbamol:
Painful muscle spasms – methocarbamol are used together with rest and physical therapy to treat injuries and other pathologies of the muscles. Additional treatment for tetanus – is assigned in conjunction with other intravenous drugs.
Side effects Methocarbamol:
Common: constipation, dark color urine, eye irritation, nasal congestion, dizziness, fainting, seizures, pruritus, rash, slow heartbeat, vomiting. Less common: Blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, flushed skin, headache, nausea, metallic taste in the mouth, irritability, confusion.
Precautions Methocarbamol
• Not recommended for patients with renal failure and seizures in history.
• Do not use during pregnancy.
• Breastfeeding – the drug is not recommended.
• Children under 12 years of taking the drug is contraindicated.
• Sedation – while taking the drug should not manage the transport and mechanical means.
• Change the color of urine on standing up to black, blue or green.
Overdose Methocarbamol:
When symptoms of overdose (drowsiness, vomiting and heart palpitations), you must: gastric lavage, the release of the respiratory tract, excessive drinking.
